What Are the Advantages Of Print Media In The Digital World?

The advent of the internet and digitisation has given a way to a whole new way of communication and sharing ideas. The speed, the convenience, the varied forms of expressions and above all the widespread reach that digital communication offers us attracts everybody towards it. Consequently, a new form of media, the digital media, has emerged and more and more people are shifting towards it leaving the older methods behind. But are all these people right? Maybe not. Digital media does offer a lot of benefits which print media lacks, but the vice-versa is also true! Print media also has certain important advantages that digital media lacks, and it is only a matter of time when people realize this. But staying ahead of the folks, let’s discuss the major advantages of print media right now.

1. Advantages of Advertising in Print Media

While digital media is being increasingly portrayed as the best of all methods of advertising your product, it is not actually true. One main problem associated with digital ads is that people hate them. Ads on websites are always seen as a hindrance in what people came there to do. And therefore people try to avoid ads. According to a report, around 80% of people never click on a banner ad displayed over websites. Most people simply overlook them and don’t pay any attention to what the ad says. Some people even go to the extent of using ad blocker that blocks all the ads from showing.

WIth print media ads, there are no such issues. People don’t particularly hate the ads on a paper or magazine. Some even like them. Because ads on a magazine or a newspaper make it look beautiful. Unlike digital ads, print ads allow your much more flexibility regarding shape, size and design or your ads. With print ads, you can acquire an entire page or just a small corner as per your requirement. You can also be fully creative and use amazing graphics to showcase your ads catching the attention of the people even better.

2. More Credibility

Any information given in print media is much more credible in the eyes of the people. The digital environment is full of an unlimited number of websites posting an unlimited number of articles, where many of them are fake, just written to pursue their personal objectives. And most people know this thing and therefore belief in information obtained from an online source is low. While in the case of print media, there are not an unlimited number of sources. Only those magazines and newspapers circulate in the market which have a good reputation among the people. And therefore people believe whatever is written in them to be true.

3. Loyal Readership

Data from several surveys shows that people who visit a website usually leave within a few seconds. Even if your website has some reputation, it is not necessary that a user always visits your website to find the information he needs. Since it costs nothing to visit 100 other websites. A user may at one moment be at your website and at another moment, be on some other website. While this is not generally the case with print media people usually read one newspaper and one or two magazines are not the all of them. If you can impress somebody with your print content, then people are more likely to stay with you.

4. More Engaging

Reading anything from a printed page engages our senses much more than reading it on a screen. There are studies which suggest that the brain is more active while reading from paper than from the screen and it is also able to retain more of what it has from a paper. It seems like a paper is much more real to our brain than a screen.

Another reason may be that while reading anything from a tablet or mobile phone there are a lot of distractions like advertisements, notifications, social media things, etc. This is why most people who want to engage in some serious readership prefer printed content over digital content.

5. Better Experience

Now this is probably something that everybody agrees with. Reading anything from a paper is a much better and satisfactory experience than reading from a screen. There are many people who may admire the touch and feel of a paper, the smell of the page, the fun of making bookmarks, the love of collecting books and so on.

Due to the above mentioned reasons, print media is never going to be a thing of the past, as some people think of it now. Digital media may have its own set of advantages but so does print media. In fact, the advantages that print media offer are huge and sooner or later most people will realise this, while many have already realised it.
